Today I wanted to share some personal tips and tricks that make using my brick oven an easy addition to my outdoor living lifestyle. These tips allow me to relax and enjoy myself while I cook and entertain.
As brick oven cooking becomes a bigger addition to my lifestyle, I realize how helpful it is to prepare foods ahead of time. For many of us, there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. Brick oven cooking appeals to me because it takes me back to a simpler time and away from my day-to-day worries. Imagine entertaining family and friends in your outdoor space listening to the fire crackling and yummy smells wafting from the brick oven. You’re stop thinking about all the things left undone—you start living in the moment and appreciating the little things you might often miss. THAT is the brick oven lifestyle!!
The key to any successful brick oven recipe is preparation, such as cutting up veggies, having five or six pizza dough balls prepared to thaw, or keeping a pan of cinnamon rolls ready in the fridge overnight. We often host spontaneous get-togethers and I don’t have much time to prepare. Keeping a variety of recipes prepared ahead of time gives me more time outside with a glass of wine talking to my friends and less time in the kitchen.
I can quickly dazzle my friends with pizzas from my pre-made dough or pull out a sheet of cookie dough balls all ready to bake. Next thing you know, we’re all sitting, chatting and enjoying delicious food from my brick oven!
I use an hour or two of my downtime each week to prepare some recipes ahead of the weekend and store them in my freezer or fridge. I don’t have to worry about anything going to waste and I am always prepared for unexpected company!
I can’t wait to share more of my personal tips and tricks to tackling the brick oven lifestyle! I would love if you might share some of your suggestions and check out my husband’s blog as well. My hope is that we can all take some time to slow down from the frantic pace we sometimes set, enjoy the moment, and treat ourselves to a more simple and laid-back lifestyle—a brick oven outdoor lifestyle.
